Evolving the way we communicate

Published 7 months, 2 weeks ago by Rob Abbott

At home and on the train, I have been crafting a new experience design. My time is extremely limited these days for personal projects, and I have been slowly piecing this one together.

While at Ribbit, I have made a couple breakthroughs around how we communicate as well as how we manage communication. There is an opportunity to influence younger demographics by introducing a project based on evolving communication. Current generations have been impacted by instant and social messaging, SMS and e-mail, and habits have evolved for some as primary communication is now shared between text and voice. The main issue is not what type of communication you use, but the ability to communicate uninterrupted.

This project unifies identities and maintains a seamless line of communication. I have bridged identities that fall under e-mail, phone number, IM handles and social presence. The experience can be distributed on multiple environments, like your TV, mobile device, desktop or even on the web living inside a destination like Facebook…

Once I hit another milestone, I will post more information on the project. And hopefully there will be a limited release of an early design by SXSW Interactive in March.
