Anything is possible.

Saturday, I ran 12 miles. I had been sidelined the past few weeks from a strained hip after a flag football game turned a bit physical. They always do.

My left knee and hip slowed me to a walk on the 12th and final mile Saturday morning. Two days later, both are still sore.

I read an article about Lance Armstrong’s run in the NYC marathon this weekend. I was surprised to read his comments about what he endured during the marathon. He said “For the level of condition that I have now, that was without a doubt the hardest physical thing I have ever done.” This is a huge statement and really speaks to the amazing runners who do this on a regular basis. Lance finished right at his goal of 3 hours (2:59:36).

I have never run a marathon before but being at the level of condition I am in, it is shocking to realize the toll long distance running takes on your body. I played soccer for nearly 15 years and I experienced pain and soreness that I never knew existed after the brief 12 miles Saturday at Golden Park.

I wore my AidsRunSF.com shirt on the run. My group and others were very interested in the shirt as well as getting the info on making their own. I am thinking about setting up personalized shirt distribution for the next Aids Marathon.
