On January 28th I will be participating in the AIDS Marathon in Miami, FL.
I’ll be logging nearly 500 miles in this six-month training program put on by the National AIDS Marathon. Those of us training for the event will be getting up early on Saturday mornings for team training in Golden Gate Park. We are also running throughout each week individually to prepare ourselves for 26 mile run in 2007.
Did you know that more than one million Americans, and 40 million others around the world, are now living with HIV — the virus that causes AIDS?
In fact, approximately 1 in every 50 San Franciscans is living with HIV/AIDS. So the money I raise will benefit the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
This is such a worthy cause, and I would like to ask for your support. I have made a personal commitment to raise at least $3,000 by Wednesday, November 1, 2006 - and I hope to raise even more. Any contribution you can make would mean a great deal to me. Contributions are tax-deductible and will make a huge difference in the lives of thousands of people living with AIDS.

Donations will support HIV services and prevention programs in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties - to help keep people alive until there’s a cure. A portion of the funds will also support treatment access in the developing world.
Matching Gifts
Many companies will match employee contributions — doubling or even tripling the impact of every dollar donated. Contact your company’s Human Resources or Community Affairs Department for information about its matching gift program. And please remember that you can use your company’s matching gift program to match not only direct contributions to the AIDS Foundation but also contributions you make to participants of the AIDS Foundation’s fundraising events like the National AIDS Marathon Training Program.
