One of the many awesome things about working for eBay is Skype and learning about it in depth. This weekend I was on the Skype developer site looking through some of the Japanese postings on Skype Application extensions (i can’t read or speak Japanese so don’t ask why I was there). I came across SkMap (Skype + Map).

It’s a pretty straight forward concept but I was curious to see how the system worked. Luckily for me the “How-to” section was in english.

To get your location and Skype status added to the map is very simple.

1. You add user ID: Sksweets to your peer list on Skype and wait for a reply welcoming you to the application.
2. Next you grab your latitude & longitude and then Skype chat the coodinates to your new Sksweets pal.The lat & long command for me was:
   #location -121.92959010601043 37.295320856406676

Finally you go find yourself on the Map. Like I said…very awesome!
